The Day the World Lost an Amazing Man

The world lost an amazing, hard working and loving man last week - my Popo.  This week brought back so many memories of times that I forgot and miss so much.  I haven't been the best granddaughter the past few years since I didn't get back to East Bernard very often but I hope he knows how much I love him and how much I will miss him.

Life Legacy

Leopold (Leo) Pribyl was born on November 15, 1933 in Victoria to Henry & Apolena Kasmir Pribyl. He attended Red Bluff School which was at that time located out of Ganado through the eighth grade and then helped out on his parent’s farm. He married Bernice Miller of El Campo on October 16, 1956 and began their married life in East Bernard. They have been married for 58 years. He served his community as a butcher for more than sixty years at many locations, including Sklars Grocery & Market, Zero Food Bank, Klecka’s Food Market, Luska Meat & Grocery, Vincek’s Smokehouse and Wallis City Meat Market. He was member of SPJST Lodge #28 of East Bernard. Most importantly he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved gardening, fishing, playing his accordion and spending time with his family. He called all his great-grandsons “His little buckaroos’ and his only great-granddaughter “His little buckaree”. After a long time battle with extended health problems, Leo was called to the Lord on December 7, 2014. He was a beloved husband, father, father in-law, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife, Bernice Miller Pribyl of East Bernard, son and daughter-in-law, Alan & Cindy Pribyl of East Bernard, son Glenn Pribyl of East Bernard, son Mark Pribyl & Michelle Sola from Angleton, five grandchildren, Dawn & Jason Stringer of White Oak, Catherine & Alex Keener of Sweeny, Christopher Pribyl of Huntsville, Timothy Pribyl of Angleton, and Eric Pribyl of East Bernard. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Nathan & Ryan Stringer of White Oak and Hunter & Brelynn Keener of Sweeny & two step- granddaughter Kimberly Grimes, Melissa Pellerin from California and two step-great granddaughters Teagen and Maddisyn Grimes from Angleton and many relatives and friends. Proceeding him is death were his parents Henry and Apolena Kasmir Pribyl, brother Edwin Pribyl and wife Ruby, sister Pauline Zak and husband Jerry and sister Henrietta Williams and husband Johnny.

Funeral Services 10:00 am Friday, December 12, 2014 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in East Bernard. Visitation Thursday, December 11, 2014 from 5:00pm until 7:00 pm with Rosary at 7:00 pm also at Holy Cross. Pallbearers include Daniel Krutilek, Steven Krutilek, Anton Novak, Jr., Daniel Novak, Roy Kasmir and Jerry Cook. Honorary pallbearers include Jason Stringer, Alex Keener, Christopher Pribyl, Timothy Pribyl, Eric Pribyl, Nathan & Ryan Stringer, Hunter & Brelynn Keener.
