The Stringer's Stories: What We've Been Up Too Since the Flu....

Well, it's been a while since the last post but I think we are all done with the flu! Nathan got the flu probably around Sat. Jan 19, stayed home from school all that week, Ryan got the flu on Wed. Jan 23 (he had one REALLY bad day but after that was instantly better) and by that weekend both boys were doing fine except that mommy was sick with probably the flu (I didn't go actually get the test - but really? I knew what it was...). Needless to say after that week, Nathan went back to school and mommy needed a week to recoup. Two sick boys and the flu are enough for any one person!

So, since then we've had a few adventures:

First:
We had Ryan's visit with the Cranofacial Specialist in Dallas on the 31st. She was very pleased with all the physical therapy, exercises and tummy time we were already doing and thought his Plagiocephaly to be mild to moderate. They took lots of pictures of his head (he seriously had a photo session of his head at the hospital) and x-rays of this head and everything came back looking good. The specialist didn't think he needed a helmet right now (she wouldn't recommend one for an infant under 6 months since they do so much growing on their own before then anyhow) but thought we should come back in about 6 weeks to re-look and see if we see any progress at that point. So, for now, our next appointment is Thursday, March 21 in Dallas again at Medical City Children's Hospital. We will continue to do our therapy with our therapist till the end of February (the longest insurance will pay) and will then continue the stretches on our own.

Second:
Nathan is POTTY TRAINED!!!!!!!!!! He's been potty trained for about 3 weeks and it wasn't nearly as bad as I was expecting it to be. As far as potty training goes - I think it was relatively easy for him. I think that's because we've been "working" on it for forever (Started in May of last year; stopped in about July; started up again in September at school and home a little and never stopped). Hence I think he just needed that final "big" push. The first two days he had a total of 4 accidents during the day and since then he might have about 3 accidents (at most) a week which normally happen at dinner time for some reason. At first we didn't bother with even trying to train at night because at that point Ryan was still waking up for one feeding and Jason and I didn't want to wake up every hour in the middle of the night. Well, thankfully for us, Ryan started sleeping through the night about the same time Nathan took it upon himself to start yelling in the middle of the night to "go potty!" He goes to bed around 8:15 and will usually scream for us anytime around 5:45-6:30.

Third :
We've been TRYING to spend some time outside. Even mommy is going stir crazy inside. However, nice days for both boys are few and far between. Most days it's cloudy and misty and/or too cold for Ryan. So, on the rare occasion it's above 60-65 and not icky we've been going outside. Here's a few pictures of the boys having fun on nice days:
