Boys of Summer

On Sunday June 1 Nana and Granddad had a "Welcome Summer" pool party.  We went out to their house after church and lunch.  Nathan was super clingy to me on Sunday and would only take a nap if I took one with him..... Who could say no to that cute little boy?!  So, the boys and I all took a nap there and when they woke up they were both excited to swim   The hot tub felt great but the pool water was still a little cold.  Jason and I pushed each other in - otherwise there was no way I would get in. :)  Nathan and Ryan both had a blast doing their own things.  Nathan loved riding the airplane and Ryan just loved floating in his life jacket while holding a ball.  They both did love shooting each other with water though.  Towards the end of the afternoon Ryan got a little more brave and was jumping to granddad in the hot tub.  For the last 15 minutes, I worked with Nathan on his swimming.  He was a little afraid at first of swimming without his floaties - but once I showed him how I can swim, he was ready to do the same thing.  We are working on getting him to move his arms, kick his feet and breathe all at the same time.  In the last 5 minutes - he was excited to jump into the pool without his floaties.  We are also working on getting him to jump in and then swim to the wall and hang on.  It's one of the survival drills we learned the past few years in swimming lessons....that way if they accidentally fall in the pool they know what to do - ie, swim to the wall and scream for help without freaking out.  The entire way home Nathan kept asking me if he did good with his swimming lessons and was excited to swim "more like mommy".  Nathan is also taking swim lessons June 23 so I'm hoping that will help him as well.

Oh yeah - we ALL also spent 45 minutes Sunday night looking for Jason's wedding ring in his parents driveway.  You'd be amazed at how long it takes you to find something that small in about a 20x20 ft area.  Good news is it was found :)

And the fight over the airplane began early...

Granddad squirting both boys with water

Maddie had to join in the pool fun as well!

Swimming like a big boy (with floaties)

Ryan loved the fountains

He also loved throwing the ball in the pool for Maddie.  He would get SO excited when Maddie jumped in.

Ryan also just loved to float like this.  He was quite content and got upset when you tried to pick him up.

Just chilling

Mommy and Ryan :)

Not sure what Maddie was doing here - trying to get on the plane?!

Swimming makes for some hungry little boys!
