Spring Break - Part 3 - Fun at the Zoo!

On Thursday during Spring Break, both my parents took the day off and we all squeezed into my car and headed to the Houston Zoo.  I was warned that it would be quite packed so knowing that my 6 mo old and 2 1/2 year old already had short attention spans, I suggested we leave early and get to the zoo as soon as it opened.  We left East Bernard at 7 am and got to the zoo around 8:30 - we were 2nd in line for the zoo to open.  Nathan didn't understand that we had to wait for 30 minutes and kept wanting to "go".  Nathan enjoyed looking at all the animals and Ryan just kind of went with the flow.  As long as Ryan was moving he was okay - but when you stopped - he was not happy.  My poor dad got the task of pushing Ryan and didn't really get to see all the animals.  Nathan enjoyed looking at all the animals - his favorites were the monkeys, lions, giraffes and elephants.

Waiting for the zoo to open

Ryan was excited to go in as well!
Neither boy is in the smiling mood...
Fruit snacks were the only way to keep him happy at 8:30 am...

Looking at the monkeys with Gigi
Two little monkeys
Looking at the lions

Lions...

More lions..

Nathan loved to push all the buttons to hear all the animal sounds - he had to press them all!

Rhino with the rhinos!!
Petting the goats
He LOVED watching the elephants....we watched them for a good 15 minutes!
Still watching the elephants..
These two baby elephants kept playing/fighting for as long as we were watching them.  It was my favorite part of the zoo - I've never seen such active elephants.  They would keep pushing each other into the water, play in the water, get out, go get some food and then start all over again.
Nathan loves his toys from the zoo from his Pawpaw and Gigi!
